How can we reduce property tax?

I have recently Buyed a new Home and Tax of that home is too high in prospective to the cost of the home.
Please can anyone help that how can i reduce my property tax?

When Should Tax Abatements Be Granted?

Amway Granted Rezoning Request - Clears Way For 50% Tax Abatement

At the January 10, 2010 Ada Township Board Meeting, the Township Board voted 5/2 in favor of granting an Industrial Development District re-zoning request by Amway Corporation, that sets the stage for a potential 50% tax break on a new project they are undertaking. Although there was a "Public Hearing" announced for the rezoning, the Township failed to communicate that this was actually the first step in a request for a Tax Abatement.

When should the Township grant Tax Abatement requests? Since Tax Abatements affect all taxpayers, including other businesses, what type of notice should the township provide regarding abatement requests? What type of guidelines should be established for considering such requests?

Speed Limits on Gravel Roads

I live on the section of 4 mile road between Pettis and Egypt Valley. There are two cautionary signs posted at each end of the curvy part of this road that state 20mph. Recently we have learned that FH school transportation will no longer stop at the bus stops on this part of the road due to visibility issues. This road is considered to be 55 mph (which is impossible to travel at) because it is not posted otherwise. My problem as well as other resident's on this street is safety of pedestrians, bikers, horse back riders, and farming operators. There is limited visibility on this section of road for them, I am wondering what can be done to have this road posted so that it can be enforced by local law authorities? Has this road ever been posted prior to the changes in the Michigan vehicular codes?

High Speed Internet

I know a survey went out awhile ago asking Ada residents about their Internet service and providers and I'm not sure what the outcome of that survey provided. I think it would be a huge asset for Ada to have higher speed Internet available. I am encouraging the government of Ada to express an interest in the fiber optic trial that Google is currently offering. I am asking and encouraging my local governments and the residents of Ada to express their interest in the fiber optic trial, and to provide information about their community by completing the request. M-21 Bridge Replacement
Public Comments Opportunity

Please share your comments, reflections, suggestions and questions about the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT's) proposal to completely close the M-21 bridge to traffic for 6 months April-September 2011 when the bridge is scheduled for replacement. MDOT feels this is a better option than building a temporary 2-lane bridge that would extend the total construction period over approximately 2 1/2 years.
At our February 8th public hearing, MDOT heard objections to their close-the-bridge (and detour traffic) from our administrators, Board members, residents and businesses. This is an opportunity to collect more thoughts and opinions from our entire community.

Capital Improvements Plan

Ada Township is nearing completion of its first Capital Improvements Plan, a document that identifies planned investments by the Township in major physical facilities in the next 6 years.

With projected slower growth in property tax base, and cuts in State revenue sharing, the Township will need to choose carefully among competing demands for its financial resources.

The Planning Commission and Township Board would both like to hear from members of the public regarding your views as to what the Township's priorities should be with regard to spending public funds on capital facility projects.

Noise Ordinance / Rules

On several occasions in the past couple of weeks Reith Riley have been working until 2 - 2.30am, Even with our windows closed the noise is annoying enough to prevent us falling asleep / staying asleep. I have read the Ada Ordinances and my interpretation is that no business can make excessive noise after 9pm, without township permission. If this is correct what can I do at a resident to get this ordinance enforced, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Downtown Development Authority

The Ada Township Board is currently considering whether to establish a Downtown Development Authority for Ada Township, and if so, which lands within the Township to include in the DDA District boundary.

The Township Board is holding a public hearing on the proposed creation of a DDA and establishment of its boundaries, on Monday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m., in the Township Hall Assembly Room.

The Board will not decide on whether to adopt an ordinance establishing a DDA until early October.

Bike Path Maintenance

I noticed that the path was swept a while ago and the sides of the bike path were mowed about two weeks ago. Maintenance seems generally good along the sections I ride daily. The approaches to the bridge are quite bumpy on the bridge nearest the water metering building at Ada and Village Springs Drive. Bikes hit the wood so hard they are chipping it away on the East end. Also, the foliage on the bridge on Ada Drive near Clifford is getting a little long. Branches hang down over the path and vines are growing on the railings. Thanks.

Once again, John Westra, in a vain attempt to discredit some of his opponents and campaign during another board meeting, made a statement about how other candidates (indicating that some of the violators were present) had campaing signs that were over the four square feet limit.
Westra knows that the limit is nine sq. ft. per sign. He has campaigned before and has received the letter from the Kent County Road Commission indicating the sign limits.
Too bad some listen to his blathering.
